6 Tips for the preparation of hummus

As for all simple recipes, the difference between a good result and a great result lies in the details. That’s why we are suggesting a few tricks that will help you make a very special, delicious hummus:

  • It’s fine to use canned chickpeas: just prefer those without additives or preservatives.
  • Use tahini instead of sesame oil; it is its texture and flavor which will give your hummus its classic smoky aftertaste.
  • Use the spices from the original recipe, cumin and sweet paprika.
  • Blend the mix in a food processor without overheating it.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a little EVO oil; your hummus will be smooth and silky.

Extra virgin olive oil: how to make an outstanding hummus

Extra virgin olive oil plays and essential role in the preparation of hummus:

  • EVO oil enhances the flavor of the dish with its fruity and herbaceous notes.
  • It imparts creaminess to the chickpeas, especially if added in the early stages.
  • It helps preserve the hummus by creating a protective layer on its surface that counteracts oxidation and mold growth.
  • It is light and extremely digestible, unlike seed oil which tends to weigh on the liver.
  • It is rich in antioxidants and monounsaturated fats, which are beneficial to health.

For our recipe we used Il Casolare Grezzo Naturale Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is particularly suitable as a condiment because of its fruity flavor.
