Tomato bruschetta is a classic and everyone loves it, adults and children alike. It is also easy and quick to prepare, as long as you use the right ingredients. Here are some tips to prepare a truly perfect tomato and basil bruschetta.
What is the best bread for tomato bruschetta?
Bread is the main component of bruschetta, and it must not be picked at random: it should fit the other ingredients we will use.
The ideal bread for bruschetta is a farmhouse loaf or any other rustic bread, cut in 2 cm-thick slices.
The ideal bread for tomato bruschetta should be naturally leavened: more compact, firm on the inside, perfect to absorb watery condiments without falling apart.
How do I toast the bread?
Of course, the best solution would be to grill it, but if you don’t have a grill, a cast iron plate or a non-stick pan will do the job.
Place the slices of bread on top of your very hot pan and let each side toast for about 2 and a half minutes over medium heat.
Remember that a perfectly toasted slice will absorb all the juices if it is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Tomato bruschetta: which oil should be used?
The other main component of bruschetta is of course extra virgin olive oil. For this recipe we selected Il Casolare Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
This cold-pressed oil is very high in polyphenols, which are essential to preserve its characteristic aroma and flavor. Its taste is fruity and very balanced: the pleasantness of Il Casolare makes it ideal for a tomato bruschetta which will conquer even the most demanding palates.
